A graduate of Central Saint Martins, London. Creative Director of Open Quote Concept Store. Lai is a Communication Designer and Artist, and Curator. He is active in diverse fields including graphic design, illustration, and music composition.
His work ‘69°N 51°W’ was created in the extreme environments during his time in Greenland several years ago. Integrating the imagination of words, the visual stimulation of graphics, and the emotional affection of music, it is an exemplary work of crossing boundaries. In 2013, he became the winner in the fourth Young Writers’ Debut Competition.
Lai founded Open Quote in 2014, a creative brand and an open platform for nurturing the local artists and educating the locals about art & culture in Hong Kong. Its purpose is to start a conversation between artists and the public. The original concept of an open quotation mark relates to written literature and cultural aspects, as well as symbolizing the beginning of future possibilities.
Lai’s work is well recognised in the industry, and he has honoured in 2015 with the Hong Kong Young Design Talent Award. And in 2016, he was selected by Perspective Global as one of the top 40 design talents under the age of 40 in Asia.
